Born in Hampshire, Piers spent much of his childhood doodling, and went on to study at Southampton University, where he met Leni. After their one year course together, he moved to Bristol to do a Graphic Design degree, where he now lives with Leni. Piers enjoys long walks on the beach, asian cooking, and lots and lots of insanely hot chillis!

After growing up in Sheffield, Leni moved to Hampshire when she was ten. Leni has always been creative and in 2004 she gained a place on the foundation art course in Southampton, where she met Piers. She continued on to study Textiles for her degree at the Winchester School of Art. Leni loves all things vintage, and scrumptious Italian food.

On 11th August 2010, Piers surprised Leni with a flight to Barcelona for their anniversary. Piers chose Barcelona as this was where they spent their first holiday. As they walked around Gaudi’s beautiful Parc Guell at sunset, an incredibly nervous Piers led Leni to a quiet corner of the gardens away from the crowds, where he got down on one knee. Piers proposed with a diamond and green garnet ring, custom made in the shape of a turtle, their favourite animal. Leni said “Yes”! Result.

We are having an outdoor wedding ceremony (weather permitting) in the grounds of Grittleton House. Please wear comfortable shoes so you can enjoy the grass. Grittleton House has antique wooden floors and as such they are unable to allow the wearing of very thin heels (less than 8mm) as these may damage the flooring. Dress code is formal, with a vintage twist. There will be a cash bar in the evening.

  • Hayley is one of Piers and Leni’s best friends and has lived down the hall from them for 4 years. Leni and Hayley have bonded over old films and 50’s dresses and pub quizzes at the Spotted Cow.

  • Sarah and Leni have been close friends for 14 years and they share a love of textiles. They studied together through school, college and their art foundation course, where Sarah also met Piers.

  • Alex is Piers’ oldest friend, having been in the same tutor group at school. Mostly they spent time messing around in class with bendy toy aliens and perfecting their abstract comedy routines.

  • Chris met Piers in the animation year of their uni course in Bristol. After realising their common interests of video games, 80’s films and drawing, they began a bromance that’s stayed tight ever since.

  • Ed is Piers’ tall, intelligent and worldly counterpart. They met at uni + became great friends and drinking buddies at various fine establishments. Ed has only beaten Piers once four times at chess.

  • Mike is Hayley’s husband and has been good friends with Piers and Leni for 4 years. Mike and Piers like Tequila and Scrabble, often at the same time. They both love bad jokes and sound effects.

The venue for our ceremony and reception will be Grittleton House, near Chippenham in Wiltshire. As we are having an English summer wedding, we wanted the day to take place in a traditional English manor house. We fell in love with Grittleton because of its beautiful surroundings and gardens, and for the stunning architecture of the building

The original house 'Grittleton Manor' which rested on the site was built in 1660. Major changes took place and the present Grittleton House was built between 1835 and 1856. The owner was an entusiastic patron of the arts and so built this palatial mansion to house his important collection of sculptures and other art treasures. We really hope you will like the place as much as we do!

For those of you who are driving, there is ample free parking at the venue. Cars can be left overnight if you wish, and collected between 9am and 11:30am the next day. For those getting the train, the closest station is nearby in Chippenham. If you need help with directions on the day, call Alex, the best man, on 07971712798 and he’ll be happy to assist.

If you are travelling to the wedding and would like to stay overnight, here are some suggestions for hotels and B&B’s in the area. Grittleton is a picturesque village situated on the edge of the Cotswolds and surrounded by beautiful English countryside. There are a few places to stay in the local villages, and there are also larger towns nearby such as Chippenham and Bath. Castle Combe nearby was voted ‘most picturesque villiage in England’ by British Heritage Magazine.

When the evening comes to a close, you may need transport home. Here are a few numbers for local taxi firms.

Being there to share our special day with us is the best gift we could receive, but we know that some of you would like to buy us a gift to mark the occasion. As we have lived together for several years, we already have everything we need for our home that would go on a traditional gift list. What we would love, however, is to begin married life by spending some quality time together on our honeymoon in Sicily. We would really appreciate any help to get us to and from our destination, and to make our stay there extra special.

Any contribution would be gratefully received, be it towards a bottle of wine, a meal out, or sightseeing trips, and we look forward to sharing the photos of our journey with you when we return! Here are some gift ideas...

Here are a couple of ways to send us your gift and please let us know how you'd like us to spend it! See you in August!
